THE DESCRIPTION OF SHANI
History of Shani
Shani Local Government Area is located in southern Borno State, Nigeria. It was created on the 27th of August, 1991, during the administration of General Ibrahim Babangida, as part of efforts to decentralize government administration and bring governance closer to the people.
The area has a long history of human habitation, with archaeological evidence indicating that the region was inhabited as far back as the Stone Age. The area has been home to various ethnic groups over the years, including the Bura, Marghi, and Higgi people.
During the colonial era, the area was part of the Northern Protectorate, and later, the Northern Region of Nigeria. After Nigeria gained independence in 1960, the area became part of the defunct Benue-Plateau State before being incorporated into Borno State in 1976.
