Geography

Akampa has a tropical climate, characterized by high temperatures and humidity throughout the year, with distinct wet and dry seasons. The wet season in Akampa typically runs from March to November, with heavy rainfall occurring from June to September. During this time, temperatures range from around 23°C (73°F) to 30°C (86°F). The dry season usually lasts from December to February, with temperatures ranging from around 22°C (72°F) to 32°C (90°F). History

Akamkpa is a Local Government Area (LGA) in Cross River State, Nigeria. It was created in 1989 from the former Odukpani Local Government Area. The LGA has its headquarters in the town of Akamkpa and is located in the southern part of Cross River State. Akamkpa LGA shares boundaries with Biase LGA to the north, Odukpani LGA to the south, Akpabuyo LGA to the east and Abi LGA to the west. The 2006 population census recorded that Akamkpa Local Government Area had a population of 151,125 people. The headquarters of the LGA is located in the town of Akamkpa, which is also one of the major towns in the area.

Economy
