History of Askira Uba

Askira Uba is a local government area in Borno State, Nigeria. It is located in the northern part of the state and shares a border with Cameroon. The people of Askira Uba are predominantly Kanuri and speak the Kanuri language.

The history of Askira Uba dates back to the 17th century when it was founded as a small settlement by the Kanuri people. Over the years, the area developed into a thriving agricultural community, with farming being the most important economic activity.

During the colonial era, Askira Uba was part of the British-controlled Northern Nigeria Protectorate. After Nigeria gained independence in 1960, Askira Uba became part of the newly created Borno State.
