History of Askira

Askira is a Local Government Area (LGA) in Borno State, Nigeria. It was created in 1976 as part of the local government reforms implemented by the military administration of General Murtala Ramat Mohammed.

Before its creation, Askira was part of the old Biu Local Government Area. Askira LGA is located in the southern part of Borno State, and it shares borders with Gombe and Adamawa States. The headquarters of Askira LGA is in the town of Askira.

Geography of Askira
