Nsit Atai Local government area was created in the year 1996 with its capital at Odot by the government of Gen. Sani Abacha. It has an area of about 17,000 square kilometers, with 62 villages. Nsit Atai local government area is situated in Akwa Ibom state, South-south Nigeria and has its headquarters in the town of Odot. Nsit Atai LGA is bordered by the Uruan, Okobo, and Ibesikpo Asutan LGAs. Towns and villages that make up Nsit Atai LGA include Ubetim, Ndisiak, Ikot Mkpo, Ibedu, Idikpa, Nda Nsit, Etobodom, and Adia Nsit.
Geographical description of Nsit Atai
Nsit Atai is located in southeast Akwa Ibom State of Nigeria and is a local government area of Akwa Ibom state. It is approximately 50 kilometers from Uyo, the capital of Akwa Ibom state. It is bounded in the north by Uruan, in the east by Okobo, in the west by Ibesikpo Asutan Ekpe Local Government Area. It is on the Coordinates: 4°51′0″N 8°01′0″E. GEOGRAPHY OF NSIT ATAI
Nsit Atai LGA has a number of rivers and streams flowing through the area with the average temperature of the area put at an estimated 25 degrees centigrade. The average humidity level in the LGA is pegged at 82 percent while total precipitation in the area is at an estimated 3200 mm of rainfall per annum.

Nsit Atai LGA has enormous deposits of mineral resources such as clay, salt, and crude oil. The activities of Oil mining companies in and around the LGA contribute to the economic development of the LGA. Farming is also an important occupation of the people of Nsit Atai LGA with crops such as plantain and oil palm grown in the area. Other important economic activities in Nsit Atai LGA include fishing, trade, and crafts making.
