History of Ughelli 

Ughelli Local Government is a Local Government Area located in Delta State, Nigeria. It was created in 1991 from the former Urhobo division of the defunct Bendel State. The area is home to the Urhobo people, one of the largest ethnic groups in Delta State.

The Urhobo people have a rich cultural history that dates back centuries. Before the arrival of European colonizers in the 19th century, the Urhobo people had a well-structured traditional system of governance, with several independent kingdoms ruled by monarchs. The people were primarily farmers, with yam, cassava, and palm oil being their major crops.

With the arrival of Europeans and the subsequent colonization of Nigeria, the Urhobo people were integrated into the colonial system, and their traditional political structures were gradually eroded. Geography Ughelli 

Ughelli Local Government is located in Delta State, Nigeria. It is one of the 25 Local Government Areas (LGAs) in the state and is situated in the central part of the state. The Local Government Area is bounded by Bomadi and Burutu Local Government Areas to the south, Ethiope East and Ughelli North Local Government Areas to the west, Isoko South and Ethiope West Local Government Areas to the north, and Patani Local Government Area to the east.

Ughelli Local Government covers an area of approximately 986 square kilometers and has a population of over 500,000 people. The area is predominantly flat with an altitude of less than 100 meters above sea level. The land is rich in oil and gas deposits, making oil exploration and production a major economic activity in the area.
