THE DESCRIPTION OF BURUTU

History of Burutu

Burutu Local Government is located in Delta State, Nigeria. The local government area was created on August 27th, 1991, during the administration of General Ibrahim Babangida, the former military Head of the state of Nigeria.

Before the creation of Burutu Local Government, the area was part of the old Warri Local Government. The area was later carved out as a separate local government to bring governance closer to the people and enhance development in the area.

The local government is named after Burutu town, which is the headquarters of the local government. Burutu town is an ancient town that has been in existence for centuries. It is a major commercial center in the Niger Delta region and is known for fishing and farming activities.
