History of Magumeri

Magumeri Local Government Area is located in Borno State, in the northeastern part of Nigeria. The area has a rich history, with evidence of human habitation dating back thousands of years.

The ancient city of Magumeri was founded in the 9th century and served as an important center of commerce and trade. The town was strategically located on the trans-Saharan trade routes that connected West Africa with North Africa and the Mediterranean world. The area covers an area of approximately 1,833 square kilometers and is bounded to the north by the Lake Chad Basin, to the east by Damboa Local Government Area, to the south by Konduga Local Government Area, and to the west by Gubio Local Government Area.

Magumeri is situated in the Sahel region of Africa, characterized by a semi-arid climate with an average annual rainfall of about 500mm.
