History of Toro

Toro is a local government area that is situated in Bauchi state, northeast geopolitical zone of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. The headquarters of the local government is in the town of Toro with the local government area made up of a number of villages and towns which include Boloji, Tama, Panshanu, Toro, Muja Berkete, Pingel, Zalau, and Magama Gumau. The current estimated population of Toro local government is calculated higher than most local government inhabitants with the area primarily inhabited by the members of the Panawa, Izere, Jarawa, and Hausa/Fulani ethnic groups. The languages that are commonly spoken in Toro local government are the Hausa, Zeem, and Fufulde while the religions of Christianity and Islam are widely practiced in the area. Notable landmarks in the land of Toro include the Government College Toro and Geji Rock Paintings.
