Orumba South Local Government Area is situated in Anambra State, the southeastern of Nigeria. Umunze is known as the headquarters of the local government. Other towns that make up the local government are Onneh, Isulo,  Ihite, Nkerehi, Akpujiogu (Akpu), Umuomaku, Eziagu, Owerre-Ezukala, Agbudu, Ezira, Ihite, Nkerehi, Nawfija, Ogboji, Ogbunka, Enugwu-Umuonyia. The local government area is made up of several villages and towns which include Umuomaku, Ezira, Alaohia, Uhala, Nkerehi, Agbudu, Nawfija, and Ogbunka. The Igbo language is commonly spoken in the local government area with Christianity religion being the most practiced religion in the area. Popular festivals that are celebrated in Orumba south LGA include the New Yam festival and the notable landmarks in the LGA include Community High School Ogboji.

Geography of Orumba South

Orumba's south local government area is located in Anambra state, the Southeast geopolitical zone of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and has its headquarters located in the town of Umunze.

Orumba South local government has an average temperature of about 26 degrees centigrade with the area hosting some rivers and streams. The area witnesses two different seasons which are rainy and dry and the rainy seasons while the average humidity level in the area is calculated at about 66 percent.

Economy of Orumba South

Trade is an important economic feature of the Orumba south local government with the area hosting some markets which include the Nkwo Ogbunka and the Eke Isulo markets. Farming is also a very important economic activity in the area with crops such as maize, rice, yam, and cassava grown in very large quantities within the LGA. Other important economic activities taking place in the Orumba south local government area include hunting, fishing, and wood carving.
