Description of Anambra West
In Anambra state, there are boundaries that are formed by Delta State to the west, Imo State and Rivers State to the south, and also boundaries formed by Enugu State to the east and Kogi State to the north. The name ‘Anambra’ was gotten from the Anambra River called (Omambala) which drifts through the area and is also a tributary of the River Niger. Anambra is known as the eighth-most populated state in Nigeria and the second-most densely populated state in the Federal Republic of Nigeria after Lagos State. The elasticity of more than 45 km between the towns of Amorka and Oba contains populated villages and small towns, hereby giving the area an estimated average density of about 1,500–2,000 persons per square kilometer.
History of Anambra West
The towns in Anambra West local government that make up the area are Igbokenyi, Odekpe, Umuenwelum Anam, Owelle, Mmiata Anam, Inoma-Akator, Nzam, Igbedor, Umuoba-Abegbu Anam, Oroma-Etiti, Umueze Anam, Umudora Anam, Umuikwu Anam, Onono Umuikwu Anam, Ukwalla, Allah/Onugwa and Iyiora Anam. The headquarters and also the seat of government are situated in Nzam.
Economy of Anambra West
Anambra West local government is rich in natural gas and crude oil, it is rated currently as having the highest oil reserves in Nigeria with a large amounts of untapped oil and natural gas at Owelle, Odekpe,Allah/Onugwa Umuikwu, Umudora, Mmiata Anam, Nzam, and Igbedor. Anambra west is also known as the foods basket of the state and until this day they are lacking of all sort of social amenities, most of this towns in the local government still go to the streams, spring and river to fetch water to drink.
