History of Ogbaru
Ogbaru local government area is situated in Anambra State, the south-central of Nigeria. The local government headquarters is settled in the port city called Atani.
Ogbaru people are mostly farmers and also warriors from its history; the people of Ogbaru share clan lineage and also boundaries with the Anioma people in Delta State and also the people of Ndoni in Rivers State.
Ogbaru is an Igbo clan that extends into three Nigerian states, the Anambra State, Delta State, and Rivers State in Nigeria. Ogbaru was known as a food basket in the country of Biafra, during the civil war. The people of Ogbaru never experienced civil as the area was inaccessible by road, or air, and covered in forest.
Towns within the area include Amiyi, Atani, Akili-Ogidi, Akili-Ozizor, Ochuche Umuodu, Ossomala/Ossomari, Mputu, Obeagwe, Ohita, Odekpe, OgbakugbaOgwu-aniocha, Umunankwo, Umuzu, Okpoko, and Ogwu-Ikpele. Ogbaru is neighbored to the north by Onitsha, a main commercial city in Nigeria that is also located in Anambra State.

The people of Ogbaru consider the Niger-Niger Rivers that run through its area as their territorial lands. Ogbaru is bordered by the river Niger to the west, from the okpoko town to Ogwu-ikpele boundary also with Rivers state (the west end) and the Orashi River to the East that is along Ogwu-aniocha and Osomari forest reserve (the east end),
Economy of Ogbaru
Ogbaru local government area has a refinery, an industrial river harbor, a Nigerian naval base, a federal road and an under-construct State in Nigeria. Ogbaru local government has a projected link road to other parts of the southeast and south zones of Nigeria having construction of more inland link roads and also the construction of a Second Niger bridge.
